Isaiah K. Harvey is a queer African American artist and educator, born and raised in Queens, New York.
His work is deeply rooted in the richness of his cultural heritage, the vibrancy of his city, and the power of movement as a form of storytelling. His practice interweaves lived experience, community, and a strong commitment to honoring both tradition and innovation in dance.
Isaiah began his early training at Innervisions Theater Arts Center. After graduating high school, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Montclair State University (MSU) in May 2018. In addition to his studies at MSU, he trained at the Earl Mosley Institute of the Arts, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and The Ailey School, where he was awarded the Bob Fosse/Gwen Verdon Scholarship.
As a performer, Isaiah has worked with singer and actress Andra Day and appeared in Rashaad Newsome’s Bessie Award-winning production Assembly. His performance credits include Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance, the Black Iris Project’s Vibrant Voices, and serving as a backup dancer for RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Olivia Lux. Throughout his training and career, he has performed works by renowned choreographers such as Alvin Ailey, Ulysses Dove, Camille A. Brown, Rennie Harris, Hope Boykin, Matthew Rushing, and Norbert De La Cruz. He has also danced professionally with Deeply Rooted Dance Theater and Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE.
In recognition of his exceptional talent and contribution to the field, Harvey was awarded the 2025 Clive Barnes Award for Dance.
Beyond the stage, Harvey is passionate about education and mentorship. He teaches modern dance throughout New York City and across the country, passing on the lineage and techniques of American modern dance to the next generation. He completed the Ailey School’s Horton Teacher Training Course and received a certificate of participation.
Isaiah has taught at institutions including Connecticut College, Manhattan Youth Ballet, and Steps on Broadway Academy, and serves as a Rehearsal Director for Earl Mosley. In 2023, he represented EVIDENCE as a faculty member at the New Orleans Ballet Association’s dance intensive. After completing three seasons as a company member with EVIDENCE, he now returns as a guest artist while continuing to build his freelance career in New York City. He is also on staff at the Youth Arts Academy and the Innervisions Theater Arts Center.
